So many beings on the surface of this earth have put their validation in the hands of people, in the judgement of people, in the criticisms of other human beings on earth. That’s why you often witness people saying “what would jessica and her friends think of me if I made that decision” “do you think being a gospel artist is the right goal for me” “do you think vlogging or being a youtuber would make me successful or be a right career for me”.
Another instance is filling yourself up by the thoughts of other people, by the words of other people, by the actions of other people,by the approval of other people. Listen to me, doing this may fill you up, but here’s the trick, it will only fill you up for a minute, and then what do you do, you go back to them for more validation? More words, approvals and criticisms?
John 4:1-14 narrates the story of Jesus and the samaritan woman
Jesus asked the samaritan woman for water and she immediately resorted to giving him water from the well, and Jesus said if you drink of this water you will thirst again, but anyone who drinks of the water I give will never thirst again. The word there is THIRST. We all get thirsty, but where do you get your satisfaction. You see the samaritan woman has learnt to get what she needs from whomever she thinks can give it.
You wake up in the morning and you’re so quick to check your notifications, who liked your pictured, who dropped a comment, did they friend you back, did they like my post, did they send a text, THIRSTY, and you feel that’s going to fill you up, it might for a minute, but there’s one problem with this well, Jesus already said it, he said if you drink of this water you shall thirst again (john 4:13-14.Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life”. If you put your validation in other people’s hands you will have to go back to them for it and you can’t keep going back to people for validation. When you put your validation in the hands of God you are constantly reminded everyday of how great and loved you are, you never go thirsty, you never need validation, you are endlessly filled up.
